Products like this one are made by carving wood by hand with the help of tools such as knives, chisels and mallets. In some cases, it also involves woodturning, a process that — much like a potter’s wheel — involves having a piece of wood spin on an axis as it is cut and moulded into the required shape. The wood products used as serveware and dinnerware are treated with food-safe oil, in this case tung oil, making it 100% safe to use for all food items. It’s also worth noting that wood is a hard material, which does not chip or break easily, and therefore products made with natural wood are long-lasting.

- Wash by hand only, using a mild dishwashing soap. Dry completely with a soft towel and let it air, preferably overnight, before storing it. To avoid the swelling and cracking of wood, do not soak in water.
- To keep the wood in good condition and to maintain the colour and shine of the wood, it is advisable to apply a little oil from time to time. Use a soft cloth and a conditioning oil for this purpose. Steps to follow for conditioning: After gently washing the product as described above, rub a liberal amount of conditioning oil olive oil or tung oil all over the product. Set the product on a towel to let the oil soak in for a few hours, then apply a second coat. Repeat until the product doesn’t seem to absorb any more oil. With a clean, gentle cloth, rub off any oily residue that’s left over.
- This product is not microwave-safe.
